Greetings! I am so excited about this year and the possibilities that we have ahead of us. I have been busy already traveling to the European Conference, region leadership conferences, and several end-of -year chapter meetings. Over and over, I realize what I love about this association – the community of people who make up ARMA.
ARMA is not just a website – although, yes, we know our website needs improvement and we are working on it. ARMA is not just our education – although we are diligently reviewing and updating our current education content and delivery platforms. ARMA is not just a conference – although ours in San Antonio is going to be AWESOME and I hope to see you all there. ARMA is the community of people who are dedicated to the proper management of records and information and in supporting each other in our quests to do the same.
ARMA is a community of volunteers and members who lift up and encourage each other. ARMA is a place where it is safe to share ideas and experiences. Every story I hear from those who are passionate about this profession and who love their membership with ARMA, tells of someone who welcomed them, mentored them, and taught them the intricacies of succeeding in this profession. We are people of passion and we need to pass on that passion.
It is my belief that we all have a responsibility in making ARMA the best ARMA it can be. Attend your local chapter meetings. Look for a person new to the industry and take them under your wing. Volunteer for a task force. Your voice matters. Be someone’s story one day. Be the person they think of when they look back on and tell their story of how they got into this profession. Together, we are ARMA.
